Rare Muhammad Ali Signed 1970 Fight Contract: "It is proposed that Muhammad Ali will meet Jerry Quarry in a boxing match at Atlanta on October 26, 1970.“

$17,500.00

“I hated every minute of training, but I said, 'Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion."  -Muhammad Ali

He is widely regarded as one of the most significant and celebrated sports figures of the 20th century. Ali was known as an inspiring, controversial, and polarizing figure both inside and outside the ring.

Born Cassius Clay, January 17, 1942, Clay was first directed toward boxing by Louisville police officer and boxing coach Joe E. Martin, who encountered the 12-year-old fuming over thieves taking his bicycle. He told the officer he was going to "whup" the thieves when he found them. The officer told Clay he had better learn how to box first.  He began training as a boxer at the age of 12.  At age 18 he won the gold medal for the United States, at the 1960 Summer Olympics.  In 1964, at the age of 22, he went pro and won the WBA, WBC, and Lineal Heavyweight titles from Sonny Liston in a huge upset.

Ali is regarded as one of the leading heavyweight boxers of the 20th century. He remains the only three-time lineal heavyweight champion, having won the title in 1964, 1974, and 1978. Between February 25 and September 19, 1964, Ali reigned as the undisputed heavyweight champion. He is the only boxer to be named The Ring magazine Fighter of the Year six times. He was ranked as the greatest athlete of the 20th century by Sports Illustrated, the Sports Personality of the Century by the BBC, and the third greatest athlete of the 20th century by ESPNSportsCentury.

Ali will undoubtedly go down in history as "The Greatest" of all time!

This Stunning two page typed fight contract, dated September 8, 1970, set up the first of two fights between Muhammad Ali and Jerry Quarry. This was an important fight for Ali because it was his first fight back after a three year suspension from fighting.  On October 26, 1970, Muhammad Ali faced Jerry Quarry in the ring, in Atlanta Georgia, for a fight scheduled for 15 rounds.  Ali came in strong and by the third round he had officially stopped Quarry by TKO.

This two page document, produced by Ali's attorneys(McCoy, Ming and Black), is signed by Muhammad Ali on page two, in his signature lavish script. Amazingly it carries Ali's Agent/Attorney's signature, Chauncey Eskridge, who also represented Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  These one of a kind documents truly are an incredible piece of history, and represent an important part of Muhammad Ali's remarkable career.

Below both documents we've included one of Muhammad Ali's most memorable quotes and one that perfectly describes the work that Ali put in everyday to become the Undisputed Heavy Weight Champion of the World.

"I hated every minute of training, but I said, 'Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion."  -Muhammad Ali.”
